Education

Education is one of the most important aspects of our society and one of the most difficult.  It has many goals to hit; equipping children to lead useful and productive lives, satisfying society’s need for all kinds of work, developing individuals who will not be pulled into criminality and drug dependency, producing life-long learners, creative thinkers, capable leaders, healthy and fit people, gifted artists and sportsmen.   It does all of this against a background of social change, working with children from all social backgrounds, cultures, first languages, carrying their own and their parent’s aspirations.

More than any other area, this is one where a one-size-fits-all model is deeply challenged.  Equality of opportunity is a fine goal, but is not met by treating everyone the same.   How do we accomplish the true goal, which we would express as “developing each child to their full potential”?

The question we would ask is “HOW should WHO teach WHOM to do WHAT using WHICH TOOLS in WHAT AREA”?    Not only are current approaches designed as if all children are the same;  they also treat teachers as interchangeable.  While there may be acknowledgement of variation, and some different options provided, the system is not designed truly to recognise and accommodate the real differentiators.

Spiral Dynamics Integral brings some very special insights into how this can be done and we are very keen to support those who would like to understand its potential contribution.
