Self Knowledge and Life Conditions

We are living systems, not machines.   We are not the same in every moment; we respond and adapt to the conditions we are in.   If you were parachuted into a tropical jungle you would quickly change how you think in order to survive.

Our modern conditions are complex.  Our work, our home life, our extended family and our neighbourhood may be diverse in character and we may not be quite the same person in any of them.  Spiral Dynamics Integral provides a set of maps for the ways in which we adapt.  It teaches us the direct relationship between what surrounds us and the thinking systems which are needed to cope well in any given context.   We see the relationship that our choices have to our gender, our internal masculine-feminine balance, our cultural background and our personal style.  We understand more about the emotional drives and how to subdue them.

Ultimately we can learn how to become more fully functioning in a complex world, not just as an intellectual construct but in our inner life.   Knowing oneself through the lens of the Spiral offers us a way to negotiate our life of being, becoming and doing.   We can teach this aspect of the personal journey.
